Cleaning your air ducts is an essential part of house maintenance

The quality of the air in your house is one of the most important features of a decent life and might make or break the experience of owning an apartment or a house. In order to have good air in your house, it’s not enough to open the windows once in a while and clean your ducts with a cloth or a broom. Even if you try to keep the kitchen filter clean, there is a lot of debris gathering up in the ductwork. If you’re really unlucky, the grease and dirt in the pipes can even burn or, at least, tamper with the quality of the air you and your family breathes. If you live in an environment that’s pretty moist- and that’s the case throughout the UK- the air ducts can also retain mold, which is a very dangerous source of infections and bad odors. Basically, what happens around your house will influence the quality of the air in your house. If you live close to a construction site, there will be much more dust in your home. Or, if you live near a lake, the quality of the air will be lower especially during the summer. Of course, you can have a duct system that will freshen up the air, but this system might get overwhelmed with dust and debris pretty soon, so you have to consider ductwork cleaning every once in a while, ideally two or three times a year. Basically, air duct cleaning teams will clean both the intake and return ducts in your home, thus removing all the debris found in them. If necessary, these teams might use a selection of chemical substances on the ducts, thus preventing the formation of mold for a certain period of time. These teams might also clean the air conditioning system in your house, thus giving you an all-round, air quality refresh to your house. If you own a business like a bar or supermarket, you might be legally obligated to perform this type of checkup and cleaning a couple of times every year. Of course, you should always professional ductwork hygiene teams to perform these tasks, as having them conducted by amateurs can pose a serious health hazard. If the ducts are not cleaned properly, the health issues associated with dirty ducts can be actually amplified, as sloppy work and improper substances used in the process can dramatically diminish the quality of the air you breathe and could fill your house with unpleasant odors. Similarly, if you have a vacation house that you’re using only for the summer, make sure to travel a couple of days before “open season” with a team of cleaners and take care of those cloggy ducts before taking your entire family there. If the house is surrounded by trees and gardens, there’s probably lots of pollen gathered in the air ducts, and if any of your family members is allergic, you might have some serious problems to solve instead of enjoying the great outdoors. Another great reason to have the air ducts in your home cleaned is that you’ll pay less for heating and air conditioning. Cleaner ducts have better air flow and thus less fuel is required to properly heat the house. Also, the house will get warm faster, so you won’t have to withstand the cold indoors just because the air duct system is not clean enough.
